Robert Root first became seriously interested in race relations when, as a young reporter in Des Moines, Iowa, he was director of youth work a church. His group “dabbled” in interracial activities and found themselves in water whose depth needed plumbing. Since that time, Mr. Root has lived and worked, or traveled, in most parts of the United States and has spent a considerable amount of time abroad, in the Far and Middle East and Europe. He has been foreign correspondent and freelance writer, and is at present associate professor of journalism at Syracuse University. His contacts with the various families of man have convinced him that, despite present disorders, the races can and will love amicably in the world.
